3 reasons your website needs to be mobile responsive

Before I start this, I want to ask you a question: Are you reading this on your phone?

It’s important, scratch that, it’s 100% necessary for you to understand how important it is that your website is responsive on mobile. I say this, because 52% of all online traffic comes from a mobile device. In this blog, I’ll be highlighting the top three reasons why your website should be responsive on mobile.

Before we jump into things, let’s establish what it actually means to be “Mobily-responsive” and, what’s the difference between that and being “Mobile-friendly?”

No need to rush to GOOGLE, I did that already. Responsive design is one that changes based on the size of the screen of the device. That means that images, text configuration, and formatting all change for the size of each device. Whether it’s a tablet, a desktop, or any new “Smart” device, your website changes on its own.

A mobile-friendly design is the exact same layout and functionality of the desktop version, just shrunk for the device. Back in the day, developers created two separate versions of the website, one for mobile, and one for desktop.

Now, let’s dive into the top three reasons your website needs to be responsive on mobile!

A seamless client experience (UI)

Just for a second, put yourself into your dream client’s shoes. Imagine that you’re sitting on a comfy couch, warm coffee in one hand, your phone in the other. And you’re scrolling on the gram.

You stumble upon an influencer that’s showing you the exact summer outfit you’ve been dreaming of. You click on the URL in their bio like their story told you to do, and you enter their site. It looks great at first, but one of the “Link here” button doesn’t work and you begin to get frustrated. You leave your nest of blankets, spill your coffee, and get up to get your laptop. You think to yourself, “It might just be easier to do it on here.” After waiting for your laptop to turn on and start up, you go to the influencer's website, only to realize that it’s super different from the one you were just on! Colors are different in certain sections, the copy is way longer and you can’t find the offer for the specific outfit you were just interested in.

If that influencer would have been you, you probably would have just lost one of your followers! burn.

Now, having a responsive website is easier than ever before, especially if you’re using Wix. Wix gives you total creative freedom on both the mobile and desktop versions. And, Wix creates a seamless user (client) experience across all devices.

boom. now your client never needs to leave the nest of blankets again.

Improve your SEO efforts with google site ranking

DYK? Google pulls your website to the bottom of the page if your website isn’t responsive on mobile.

That's life.

Google scores every single website’s mobile version on a scale of 1 to 100. If your website scores below 80, Google is purposely not showing your site to people that could inevitably be your dream clients. Sounds messed up, right? Well, Google is as concerned with their user experience just as much as you are, so they don’t want to be providing search results of websites they don’t “approve” of. In Googles words, having a mobile-responsive website: “Helps our algorithms accurately assign indexing properties to the page rather than needing to signal the existence of the corresponding desktop/mobile pages.”

If you haven’t ever taken this test, do it now! it takes less than 30-seconds, and is a very important number to keep in mind! Take it here
